(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board on Wednesday approved an employee “Hero Pay,” approved the authorization of a bid letting, set a public hearing for the High School south parking lot improvement project and outlined the hiring process for the new Middle School Principal position.
The stipend, recommended by Schools Superintendent Steve Barber is for full and part-time employees. The extra allowance is based on continuous years of service at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year.
The stipend includes; (partial included), one to four years experience, $1,000. Five to nine years of experience, $1,250.00, and ten years of experience, $1,500. The payment will be paid to the eligible staff on one check on September 1, 2022.
At the January work session, the board discussed providing the retention stipend is an allowable use of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds. They believe all Atlantic school employees are valuable to the mission of the school and students and they want to recognize them for continuing employment with the district.
The School Board also approved the bid letting, and the public hearing for March 16, at 5:30 p.m. for the High School parking lot improvement project. The final drawings and designs for the proposed project will be sent out to prospective bidders tomorrow, February 10. The estimated cost is $552, 500.
