(Atlantic) On August 18, the Atlantic City Council voted 6-1 to hire the “Retail Coach” for business recruitment and related services. The contract cost is $30,000 plus $2,500 of reimbursable expenses.
The firm identifies retail opportunities within the City, recruits retailers, coaches the community, helps fill gaps, and ultimately acts as an extension to the current staff, particularly how it relates to retail.
Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett brought the City Council and the public up to speed on the latest activity with this firm. Retail Coach workers collected the percentage of current leakage and data matching a company willing to come to Atlantic.
“We are a match in the high 80-percentile of various retailers looking to locate in city’s our size,” said Mayor Garrett. “With that information, Retail Coach contacted so of them and are waiting for responses.”
The data is compiled into one program and sent to the City Council, Chamber, and Cass/Atlantic/Development Corporation.
“The City will have access to watch the results as they populate the information into the system,” said Garrett. “We will watch the responses of the interested businesses.”
Mayor Garrett says Retail Coach Representatives will be coming to Atlantic soon.
