(Coralville) The Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association held the Girls State Wrestling Tournament this weekend.
Creston’s Savannah Sistad won the 220 pound bracket and Molly Allen, of Underwood, topped the field at 105.
Hannah Davis, of Abraham Lincoln, was the 105 pound runner-up. Glenwood’s Emily Lundvall took 2nd at 125.
SW Valley’s Adyson Lundquist placed 3rd at 110.
Lewis Central brought home five medals. Sophie Barnes and Maya Humlicek each placed 3rd. Mahri Manz was 4th. Espie Almazan and Ava McNeal each earned 6th.
AHSTW’s Bella Canada posted a 4th place finish at 190.
Jocelyn Buffum, of Missouri Valley, was runner-up at 220.
Placing 6th at 100 pounds was Treynor’s Ava Kennedy.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union announced on Saturday that it will sanction girls wrestling in the 2022-23 season.
