(Area) Ice depth reached as many as seven inches over the weekend in many locations and anglers have been venturing out.
Despite warm temperatures earlier this week their remains enough ice to get out on several lakes and farm ponds. Bryan Hayes, DNR Fisheries Biologist, reminds anglers no ice is 100% safe. “Check it as you go out. It’s good hard ice. That ice was formed under cold conditions and it formed pretty rapidly. It’s good, hard ice.” Hayes says ice isn’t uniform across an entire water body.
Results have been varied. “The reports have been good, maybe mixed you could say. It’s pretty typical for any fishing report.”
