(Greenfield) District 20 State Representative Ray Sorensen says the Taxpayer Relief Fund has reached over one billion dollars.
Sorensen views this surplus as an overpayment by the taxpayers, and the state will be returning it responsibly and sustainably while still funding Iowan’s priorities,” said Sorensen. “I understand there are a lot of priorities, and it’s easy to spend money, but from my point of view, we as Iowans know how to spend our own money better than the government. I want to do what I can to give any over-collection back to Iowans and let them spend it and boost the economy.”
Representative Sorensen says conversations are ongoing between the House, Senate, and Governor Reynolds on best returning this overpayment and lower taxes during this legislative session.
