(Griswold) On Monday at the Griswold School Board meeting, Schools Superintendent Dave Henrichs highlighted a portion of Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Condition of the State Address affecting school districts.
Henrichs says the Governor recommends a 2.5 percent increase in the school supplemental aid package. Henrichs says that will be detrimental if that is the amount given to districts across the state.
Or three percent, whichever is the least. Henrichs says that three percent by rule is only base pay and doesn’t cover FICA and IPERS or insurance. He says typically, school districts settle from a total package standpoint.
Henrichs says in regards to the transparency piece, the Governor is recommending school districts catalog all library books and put them on the district website for parent review and the district’s curriculum.
Dave Henrichs added it is unknown how the legislature will vote on these issues.
