(Cass Co.) The Cass County Board of Supervisors heard reports from Conservation, Veterans Affairs and the Engineer this morning.
Cass County Conservation Director Micah Lee said they closed down camping at Cold Springs Park and winterized the campground at the end of October. He said they also finished installing everything in the new playground and they replaced a tube along the rock cut trail and cut down a couple of big maple trees that had grown at an angle.
Lee said they installed a boundary cable at the Pellett Wildlife Refuge across from the ethanol plant to keep folks from driving in there.
Lee also noted they have been doing some brush removal along the T-Bone Trail. He said there was quite a bit of damage from the Derecho in December.
Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken told the Supervisors that they had a full crew out on Saturday for around 9 hours following the snow storm and they were back out again on Sunday for about four hours. Wolken said with the rain and snow and then freezing temperatures, it was tough to treat the roads. Wolken also told the Board that the 570th Street I-80 overpass agreement has been sent off to the DOT. In December, the Supervisors approved vacating a portion of 570th Street at Interstate 80.
In other news, the Supervisor approved the 2022 Wellness Program and they approved the appointments of Jim Swanson to the Cass County Zoning Board and Cliff Aupperle as Franklin Township Trustee.
