(Ames) A top ten showdown between Baylor and Iowa State was won by the Bears on Saturday at Hilton Coliseum in Ames.
Baylor had four players in double figures in the 77-72 win. They improve to 13-0 on the season. James Akinjo posted 16 points for a Baylor team that shot 50% from the field and made 41.2% from 3-point range.
Tristan Enaruna made 8/11 field goals and 7/8 at the free-throw line to lead Iowa State with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Izaiah Brockington posted 18 points and 8 rebounds. Tyrese Hunter scored 12.
Iowa State struggled from the 3-point line (1/14, 7.1%), but stayed in the game with defense and free-throw shooting (21/27, 77.8%). Baylor broke an 8-8 tie with a 14-5 stretch in the middle stages of the first half. The Bears maintained an advantage between five and 12 points for most of the contest.
ISU is 12-1 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12. They will host #25 Texas Tech on Wednesday.
