Ronald John Wittrock, 84, of Anita was reunited with his wife, Jeanette on December 25, 2021. He was born May 1, 1937 in Carroll, Iowa to Charles and Frances (Roth) Wittrock. He graduated from eighth grade at Holy Angels School in Roselle. On June 23, 1959, he married Jeanette Hannasch at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle, Iowa. They made their home south of Roselle. They filled their home with four children, Sheryl, Brian, Don, and Tom. Ron went into the Army Reserves in May of 1956 and was honorably discharged in November of 1962. After his time in the Army, he worked at Halbur Implement. He also farmed and had dairy cows. In January of 1970, they moved to their forever home in Anita. In later years, Ron became a well-known handyman in the area fixing anything from toilets to tractors.
Ronald is survived by his children Sheryl (Larry) Drees of Adair, IA, Brian (Julie) Wittrock of Carroll, IA, Don (Lisa) Wittrock of Anita, IA, and Tom (Wendy) Wittrock of Wiota, IA.; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandkids; brother Merlin Wittrock of Carroll, two sisters, Dorothy Berger of Lohraville, IA and Velma Tiggs, of Carroll, IA.
Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Frances (Roth); his wife Jeanette (March 2018), grandson David Drees (May 1988); brothers Alfred, Jerry, Charles, and Clarence; sister Marjorie Steinkamp; brothers-in-law Walter Tigges, Alvin Berger, and Edwin Steincamp; and sister-in-law Arlene Wittrock.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anita, IA, with Father Trevor Chicoine officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, with a luncheon to follow held at the Anita High School.
Visitation with family present will take place from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA.
