(Guthrie Center) Consistency is an element escaping the ACGC girls basketball team so far this season.
Head coach Brad Baudler says the nature of their play is evidenced by the team’s near 4-3 record. “I would say we are a young team and we are figuring each other out. We are getting better every game and that’s the whole goal. As long as we keep on improving I think we are going in the right direction.”
Mersadez Richter is averaging a team best 8.5 points per game, Alaina Bunde contributed 7.7 points, and Reagan Carney 6 per contest. “Alaina Bunde is our one and only senior so we lean on her quite a bit in the post area and we’re still figuring out how we want to get her the ball more. We are working on that. Mersadez Richter played a little bit as a freshman so she’s stepped into a lot bigger role and Saige O’Brien and Sophie Dorsey both had experience last year and you can tell they are a little headier. Reagan Carney has stepped into starting role.”
Heading into play this week the team had scored at least 49 points in all of their wins, while being held under 45 in all of their losses. “We shoot pretty well in practice and we haven’t really shown that in games except for maybe one. I want to keep on working on game shots and gaining confidence and then running lanes and finding ways to get easier baskets.”
ACGC returns to action on Monday, January 3rd at Coon Rapids-Bayard.
