(Guthrie Center) Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Director Bob Kempf says about 2/3 of Guthrie County received widespread damage from the December 15 tornadoes and derecho.
Kempf reminds eligible residents in Guthrie County to sign up for the Individual Assistant program. He says signup started on December 16, and individuals must apply for assistance up to 45-days from when the damage occurred. Kempf says a household can receive up to $5,000 in assistance.
The income requirement is 200-percent or less than the federal poverty level. A single parent with two children in the home must have an income of less than $43,920.00. The receipts must be in the applicant’s name.
The funds can help replace spoiled or destroyed food during the power outage. That for up to $50.00 for one person and $25.00 for each additional person in the household. Fast food receipts don’t qualify. The funds can also replace clothing destroyed by the storm and expenses not covered by insurance.
