(Atlantic) The Atlantic Athletic facilities renovation project is down to the punch list items.
On Wednesday night, Schools Superintendent Steve Barber says the school board accepted the substantial completion of the Trojan Bowl, baseball/softball complex, the soccer field, and new track. The renovation is complete at the new tennis courts at the high school, along with the shot put and discus rings.
The project didn’t meet the original schedule, and Barber admits some frustrations along the way.
Barber noted the $40,000 U.S. Tennis Association grant for the new lighted tennis courts at the high school.
The project includes synthetic turf fields and significant improvements to the baseball/softball complex.
Atlantic Community School patrons passed the $9.5 million bond issue in April of 2019, allowing the construction of the three-phase project.
