(Area) Iowa’s Shotgun Deer season will begin next weekend.
Bryan Hayes with the Iowa DNR says now is the time to get prepared for a safe hunt. “This weekend would be a good weekend to go through your gear. Make sure that blaze orange hasn’t faded. Check that stuff out. We always encourage to plan that hunt and include safety in that plan.”
Hayes says it’s important that everyone in a hunting party knows their role and sticks to it. “Any of the hunting activities we do you tend to be with family and friends and you don’t want to have any accidents when you are out there. With that being said, hunting continues to be a safe activity enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of Iowans annually with very few accidents. So we want to keep it that way.”
Another key before going into the field is to make sure you have landowner’s permission. The first of two shotgun deer seasons opens Saturday, December 4th followed by late muzzleloader season.
