(Atlantic) Truckers note some changes in the CDL Skill Testing.
Cass County Treasurer Tracey Marshall says through the years; Counties have continued to drop this service because of the cost to the taxpayers of that specific county. Marshall says skills testing is offered in 11 of the 99 counties, including Cass, Council Bluffs, Carroll, and Des Moines.
Marshall says there are three required CDL tests at $25.00 per section. The pre-trip vehicle inspection, basic control skills, and on-the-road driving test, for a total cost of $75.00. She says this is a positive change for treasurer’s offices.
Marshall says most offices are still by appointment only now, and some will continue to the future with the appointment systems.
Tracey Marshall, another change is the Real ID. Marshall says this is pushed back until May of 2023. This is a star on the top right of the driver’s license. This is only needed if someone is going to fly or enter a nuclear plant or federal building.
