(Cedar Falls) Top rated Harlan returns to the state finals thanks to a win over #5 Humboldt on Saturday.
The Cyclones prevailed 45-19 and will take a 12-0 record into the title matchup. Their opponent will be #3 (12-0) Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley. The game will be played on Friday, November 19th at 1:00 p.m.
Humboldt quarterback Caden Matson ripped off an 84 yard scoring run on the 2nd play from scrimmage, but the Cyclone defense buckled down and gave up just 35 yards the rest of the half. Matson finished with 89 rushing yards in the game to lead the Wildcat offense.
Jacob Birch carried Harlan’s offense early in the contest. The junior tight end posted 76 yards and two touchdown receptions in the first half. Aidan Hall had a big 2nd half with a 60-yard pick six and a 72 yard catch and run on a screen pass. Teagon Kasperbauer completed 18/30 passes for 338 yards and 4 TD’s. He breaks Joel Osborn’s single season school record for passing touchdowns, now with 44.
Hall carried 14 times for 55 yards and had five catches for 147 yards. Birch finished with seven receptions for 81 yards. Connor Frame had four grabs for 102 yards including his 21st TD catch of the year.
