(Atlantic) The Atlantic Police Department and Atlantic Police Department Reserves are gearing up for their Christmas Programs.
Atlantic Police Lt. Devin Hogue said the Reserves will host Family Dreams Christmas on Saturday, December 18th. Families can fill out applications, or if you know a family in need you can fill out an application to nominate them. Those applications are available at the police department and must be turned back in by December 8th at 4:00 p.m.
The Atlantic Police Department is hosting Shop with a Cop on Sunday, December 19th. Lt. Hogue said there is no application for this program; the Police Department seeks out the families.
Lt. Hogue said last year Family Dreams Christmas helped eight full families, four families with toys, and all of the families were given a food box that had everything for a Christmas dinner. Shop with a Cop had 35 children and 25 total helpers. In total they had 67 children and 17 adults from 26 families. They spent a little over $17,000 that was all donations from local groups, organizations and individuals.
Donations can by dropped off at the Atlantic Police Department. Checks should be made to APCCO.
