(Fort Dodge) ACGC began the season with one big goal in mind. On Saturday in Fort Dodge the Chargers accomplished the feat in emphatic fashion.
Led by a top five race from senior Trevin Suhr and a good pack behind him, coach Colin Shawgo’s team hoists the Class 1A State Championship trophy.
Suhr clocked a 16:38 to place 4th. Sophomore Andrew Mahaffey ran 17th in 17:19. Junior Justin Reinhart and senior Kaden Thompson crossed back to back at 21 and 22 in times of 17:23.05 and 17:23.33, respectively. Rounding out the group were Bo Arrasmith (56th in 18:01), Noah Kading (73rd in 18:15), and Lance Bunde (80th in 18:21). They posted a winning total of 75 points. Runner-up Maquoketa Valley Delhi scored 112. Earlham placed 3rd with 134. The Cardinals were led by teammates Jayden Dickson and Dominic Braet finishing 1-2.
Other teams from area conference included Central Decatur, Woodbine, and St. Albert. Central Decatur scored 199 points to place 7th, Woodbine was 9th with a total of 234, and St. Albert tallied 305 to place 14th in the 16 team field.
Other individuals from the immediate coverage area were Doug Berg and Mason McCready. Berg, a junior from Nodaway Valley, ran 20th in a time of 17:22. McCready, a sophomore from Riverside, completed the course in 18:07 to place 67th. A video with McCready can be found below along with results for all runners from area conferences.
Tipton won the Class 2A boys meet. West Central Activities Conference representative DM Christian placed 5th. The Lions had individual champ Aaron Fynaardt along with a 4th place run for Carson Houg.
