(Red Oak) Red Oak Firefighters on Thursday morning battled a house fire.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says the call went out at 9:20 a.m. at 300 Market Street. The first Fire Engine arrived three minutes to a one-and-a-half-story residential structure with heavy fire on the backside.
The initial report indicated children and a male party inside the residence, and firefighters began an immediate search and rescue operation. A short time later, Firefighters learned no children were present, and the male subject had left the residence.
Firefighters suppressed the fire and conducted salvage and overhaul operations, bringing the fire under control at 10:20 a.m. Firefighter’s terminated ground operations at 11:25 a.m.
Chief Bruce says no one suffered injuries in the blaze.
The joint fire investigation by the Red Oak Fire Department and Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office; concluded that faulty wiring on the back porch ignited combustibles at that location, causing the fire.
