Judith Ann Shanno, the daughter of Leon and Carrie (Perkins) Putnam, was born October 13, 1933, in Oakland, IA. She died October 7, 2021, at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bellevue, NE, at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 25 days.
Judy attended country school at Oakland. On August 1, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Shanno in Council Bluffs, IA. Four children were born to this union: Joanne, Nancy, Jim, and Mark. They moved to Omaha, where Kenneth took a job with the railroad. While living in Omaha, Judy worked as a clerk at Boys Town and then Methodist Hospital, before slowing down with several smaller jobs. Last November, failing health caused Judy to move to Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Judy was a member of Marshall Drive Baptist Church and loved taking her family to church when she could. Judy enjoyed square dancing, playing bingo, and doing crafts. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth on March 6, 1997; her parents; and her brothers and sisters: Don, Dale, Darrell, Pat, Phyllis, Bonnie, Wiladen, and Jean.
She is survived by her children: Joanne Dau and husband Steve of Omaha, NE, Nancy Shanno of Omaha, NE, Jim Shanno and wife Tonya of Omaha, NE, and Mark Shanno and wife Anne of Omaha, NE; her grandchildren: Jodi, Mike, Carrie, Zach, Cheri, Chris, Courtney, Shawn, Amanda, Kevin, Honora, and Jessie; her great grandchildren: Delanie, McKenzie, Ty, Trey, Caylynn, Alex, Candace, Charlye, Ricky, Alizabeth, Austin, Cameron, and Veronica; her great great-granddaughter, Havannah; and her sisters, Linda King of Hancock, IA, and Karen Sorensen of Calumet, OK. Judy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland, Iowa. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
