(Cass County) Emily Plagman, 2021 Cass County Fair Queen, reflects on what 4-H meant to her. National 4-H Week is an opportunity to highlight the remarkable 4-H youth in communities across the country to showcase the incredible experiences that 4-H offers young people.
Plagman, a member of the Benton-Franklin 4-H Club, joined 4-H because of her older brother, and she wanted to show animals at the fair. However, her 4-H experience became much more than that to her.
Plagman started 4-H in the third grade giving presentations and showing livestock. She became a leader served as a reporter and secretary, and as the years went she served as president of her club, spent three years on the State 4-H Council, and capped off her 4-H career when she was selected as the 2021 Cass County Fair Queen.
Plagman has met some of her best friends through 4-H, credits her leaders for helping her along the way, explains what the 4-H motto head, heart, hands, and health means to her.
Emily Plagman, a CAM High School graduate, is enrolled at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska. She plans to finish out her secondary education at Northwest Missouri State, pursuing a double-major in Ag Education, and Ag Media, with a minor in Agriculture Communications.
