(Elk Horn) No changes have been made to the Exira-EHK return to learn plan.
The Board of Education re-visited the topic after recent changes, most notably the ability to impose a mask mandate being put back in the hands of each school district. “The board has decided to leave our return to learn plan as is so masks will still be optional at Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton.” Superintendent Trevor Miller says, “We have a very low number of cases. If things change we can always re-visit it, but for now we are going to stay with masks are optional.”
Elsewhere, Miller says the board approved a measure to simplify the district’s banking. “When Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton re-organized they kept all of their bank accounts open. So basically we have 22 different accounts that we are going to simplify. The board approved a lot of our checking accounts are going to be with Exchange Bank out of Exira and our savings accounts will be with Shelby County State Bank. It’s just a way to simplify so when we do our reconciliation it’s easier to figure out instead of having 22 different accounts.”
The deadline has passed for school board candidates to get their name on the ballot. Exira-EHK has just two individuals that will be running, but there are three vacant seats.
