(Griswold) Griswold football coach Chase Wallace says his team will need to get off to a fast start against Stanton/Essex this week. The Tigers host the Vikings Friday on KSOM. A live video stream will be available as through this link: Griswold vs Stanton/Essex Video Stream
Griswold has been outscored 64-8 in the first quarter this season, including a 34-0 hole last week in a loss against East Mills. “We need to get off to a fast start. So far this season we’ve really put ourselves in a hole quick and early. We are really trying to stay out of that situation. Stanton is going to come out with a high powered offense and they run a lot of formations so we need to be ready for that.”
Coach Chase Wallace say the team’s passing attack continues to improve. “Our passing game seems to get better and better each week. Kamron Brownlee really found a rhythm last week against East Mills which had a pretty good secondary. He threw for almost 200 yards so that was a pleasant sight to see and he was really spreading the ball around. We hope to continue that this week and keep working on it and get it improved.”
Griswold starts two freshmen on offense and four on defense. “We are really asking a lot of them. We are definitely hard on them and we are because we know they can take it. If we yell at them we just tell them that we know it’s a learning experience. If we stop yelling at them they should be worried because that means we are probably losing hope in them. They keep working hard and doing what we are asking. They don’t make excuses and they go out there and give everything they have.” Wallace adds, “Our guys continue to fight so that’s good to see.”
Coach Wallace says the quickness of Stanton/Essex is a concern this week, but they hope to establish a running game with the size advantage they have this week.
