Rocky Lee Barnett was born on February 22, 1947, in Harlan, IA. His parents were Pete and Alta Barnett. He attended Harlan Schools, and was drafted into the Army, where he finished his high school degree. Rocky was united in marriage to Jean Campbell, on October 15, 1966. They moved to Fort Hood, TX, where Rocky continued with his military duties earning a rank of Spec VI. Rocky and Jean then moved back home to Harlan, IA, where two children were born to this union, Becky and Marty. Rocky worked as a mechanic at Orv Rocker Ford, Good Year Tire, and Keast. He retired from Keast in May of 2013.
Rocky enjoyed many activities and was always working on some project. He loved watching and playing baseball, attending his grandkids sporting events, country dancing with his wife, and going to the beach. However, his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family. He loved being with his grandkids, Camren, Keaton, Makenzie (Becky), and Bryce (Marty and Bridget).
Rocky was “One of the good ones” according to his family and friends. He was always willing to help out when needed. He was an amazing husband, dad, and grandpa! He will be greatly missed! Rocky wouldn’t want us to be sad, and would rather us celebrate and share all the great memories!
Rocky went to be with the Lord, on Friday, July 23, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard Barnett (Dorthy) and his sister Marlene (Richard Jensen). He is survived by his wife Jean, and his two children Marty (Bridget) and Becky, a sister, Kitty Jensen and a brother Lee Barnett (Jennifer).
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.
