(Page Co.) A Shenandoah man was cited following a single-vehicle accident west of Bethesda.
The Page County Sheriff’s Office was notified Tuesday of a vehicle in the ditch on 140th Street in the 2300 block. The Sheriff’s Office received a call from 37-year-old Aaron Duwayne Childs shortly after the report came in. Childs said that he had been driving the vehicle when it went into the ditch. Childs stated that he had left the vehicle in the ditch and would get it out within a couple of hours. The investigation into this vehicle in the ditch conducted by the Sheriff’s Office indicated that Childs was operating a 2008 Nissan westbound on 140th. Childs said that he swerved to miss a deer, lost control of the vehicle and went into the south ditch where the vehicle struck an embankment and damaged a driveway tube. Childs stated that he was not injured.
The vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damage. Damage to the driveway tube owned by Christopher Campbell of rural Clarinda is estimated at $3,000.
Childs received citations for failure to maintain control and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
