(Mason City, IA) — A man from Omaha is now charged with vehicular homicide after a woman he struck with his pickup in Mason City died of her injuries. Police say 35-year-old Christopher Rathfon was driving drunk when he hit 62-year-old Dawn Merrick in a Fleet Farm parking lot June 8th. Merrick died in the hospital a couple days later. Rathfon was initially charged with O-W-I reckless driving and serious injury by vehicle. The criminal complaint says a breath test show Rathfon’s blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit in Iowa.
