(Audubon) The Audubon City Council tackled a few items pertaining to the Fire Department at their June 14th meeting.
The Audubon Fire Association is looking into funding opportunities for their new fire station. Here’s Audubon City Clerk Joe Foran. “At this point what they are asking for is to start having the city explore the idea of bonding for the fire station. That is going to be part of a work session to discuss what the process is.”
Meanwhile a rock grinding approval was addressed at Audubon’s most recent meeting. “Public Works has asked to coordinate with the Fire Association to get a rock grinding company to come out initially for the Landus building for the Fire Association. And then since they are already in town Public Works is going to help share the costs to have them grind up some rubble that the city has to later be able to be used in the ally ways.”
Additionally, a 28E Agreement was set up with Gray. “There has not been an agreement in the past. Our understanding is around 2006 or 2007 that Gray quit doing fire protection and never taxed or paid for that protection. That was discovered by our Fire Chief Tyler Thygesen through training and meetings he went to and now we are trying to correct that.”
According to the latest census data, Gray has a population of 63.
