(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board made it official on Wednesday night; Derek Hall is the new Atlantic Head Boys’ Basketball Coach. Hall takes over the program following Jeff Ebling, who accepted the Head Boys’ Basketball job at Indianola.
Atlantic High School Athletic Director Andy Mitchell says Derek Hall is a young coach with a lot of enthusiasm. “Anyone who has seen what he’s done with our strength and conditioning program knows we have a lot of good things going on there,” said Mitchell. “Our athletes are definitely getting stronger and more competitive, and that’s what we’re looking for.”
Derek Hall is a 2013 graduate of Denison High School, where he was an all-state basketball player, played college football, and is a graduate of Morningside College. Hall has served as the Atlantic Head Boy’s Freshman Football Coach, Atlantic Head Freshman Boys’ Basketball Coach, and Assistant Coach for Cross Country and Track.
“The players aren’t going to have to learn a lot of new terminologies and expectations,” said Mitchell. “The buy-in should be a lot quicker. ”
Mr. Hall is the Atlantic Middle School 6th Grade Science, Teacher.
