(Greenfield) Nodaway Valley is bringing back Darrell Burmeister to coach boys cross country in the 2021 season.
Burmeister, who has retired from teaching, will continue to coach for the district after a period of uncertainty. He has led the program to five state team championship with four in boys (2002, 2015, 2016, 2017) and one in girls (2009). He also oversaw Megan Winkelman’s two state individual titles in 2002 and 2003 and Josh Baudler’s individual championship in 2019.
Burmeister will not be back on the sideline for boys basketball after Jeremy Blake was hired to take over that program. Chase Green will serve as the head girls cross country coach. The following press release was issued following Wednesday’s school board meeting:
