(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council will review the bid for three City-owned properties at Wednesday’s meeting.
Chuck Templeman submitted a bid of $4,810.00 for the properties at 204 West 3rd Street, 202 West 3rd, and 211 Locust Street. The property is assessed at $4,810.00.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says Mr. Templeman plans to build a garage on the property with an estimated construction cost of $10,000. He owns a rental property at 209 Locust Street to the north of these lots. Lund says the City Council is tasked to review all bids under the City Land Use Disposal Policy. Lund says the bid meets the standards found in the policy.
Meanwhile, there’s been some discussion about retaining these lots for possible future development.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says the City received another bid on a property at 611 Linn Street. James Hemphill bid $650 for the lot and intends to merge this lot with his own property to the north.
Lund says the property is assessed at $8,300, and the bid is well under the assessed valuation of the property, which cost the city $83,873 to demolish because of asbestos and stucco. He says a new $100,000 home is not being proposed on this lot, and the City Land Use Disposal Policy would require $8,300 for the transaction. Additionally, Lund says given the cost to demolish it, the prime location across from the Ann W. Wickman Child Development Center, and the fact it doesn’t meet the standards found in the policy, he will recommend the City reject the bid.
The City Council may accept the bids as proposed or reject them. It could also be referred to a committee for further discussion. If the bid is accepted, the Council will direct the City Attorney to draw up the papers to sell the property.
The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
