(Oakland) Audubon is the site of the Western Iowa Conference co-ed track meet. Competition starts at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.
It’s been a strong year for the Riverside girls and they are looking forward to making a solid push at the end of the season with the conference meet Tuesday and the state qualifying meet next Thursday. “We always have a goal of placing pretty high at the WIC. It’s a pretty competitive conference for us. Going into it we didn’t exactly know what would be our strength, but we’ve made some pretty good advances with our sprinters and mid-distance girls. We are looking to place pretty high in the 100, 200, and some relays.”
Coach Jared Hoffman points out freshman Lydia Erickson has broken the school record in the 200 with her time of 26.64 at Underwood. “That put her up pretty high in the conference and the state so she was pretty excited about that. Veronica Andrusyshyn in the open 100 has been running real well along with the 100M Hurdles. She’s been real close on the open 100 record.”
Emma Gordon and Izzy Bluml join Erickson and Andrusyshyn on a couple of very good relays. The Lady Dawgs were 6th in the 4X100 (52.95) and 4th in the Sprint Medley (1:56.74) in Class 1A as of Friday afternoon.
