(Atlantic) The Iowa Department of Transportation is currently working on numerous road and bridge construction projects.
Scott Suhr District #4 DOT Transportation Planner says the DOT continues to install cable guardrail along Interstate 80. Crews are currently working on the stretch from the G30 Interchange to County Highway L66 near Minden exit in Pottawattamie County. “The cable guardrails have been effective in preventing vehicles from crossing the median into oncoming traffic,” said Shur. “This a good safety feature we’ve added onto our interstate projects, and it will continue this year.”
Suhr says work continues on Highway 92 into the City of Council Bluffs.
The box culvert replacement project on Pottawattamie County Highway G30 south of Hancock starts today. The road is closed, and there is a detour in place for approximately 30 days. The completion date for this project is scheduled for June 30.
Crews are currently working on Highway 2 in Fremont County, building overflow bridges and raising the grade to prevent future flooding in that area. Construction
Crews are currently working on pavement resurfacing on Highway 275 in Fremont County from the north city limits of Tabor to Highway 34. This project includes concrete patching, milling and resurfacing, and paved shoulder work.
Suhr says a bridge repair project on Interstate 29 is scheduled to start later this month, and a bridge deck overlay project at Interstate 880 Interchange.
