Shirley Irene Bishop, was born in Oakland, IA, December 20, 1944. She died at the Heritage House in Atlantic, IA, on March 7, 2021, at the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 18 days.
Shirley attended school in Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School with the class of 1963. She married Ron Dotson and two children were born to this union: LaChelle and Dwight. Shirley worked at several different places, including Walnut Grove, Griswold State Bank, and Hockenstead and Wilson. On February 6, 1980, she was united in marriage to Richard Bishop at the Griswold Central Church of Christ. They lived in Griswold until the time of her death.
Shirley loved being outdoors. She enjoyed boating, camping, gardening, swimming, taking motorcycle trips, and snowmobiling.
Shirley is preceded in death by her daughter LaChelle Lensch; mother Irene Kelley; her father Elbert Kelley; her step-mother Mabel Kelley; and her brother Elwyn Kelley.
She is survived by her husband Richard of Griswold; her son Dwight Dotson; her brother Leland Kelley; her sisters-in-law Vicki LaRock and Vickii Bishop; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM, at the Griswold Central Church of Christ. Visitation will be one hour prior to memorial service. Casual dress is requested. Facial covering and social distancing are encouraged. Interment will be at a later date. Luncheon will follow the service.
