(Anita) The CAM School Board approved the 2021-2022 Budget and 2021-2022 School Calendar at Monday’s School Board meeting. The board’s approval followed two public hearings held before the regular meeting.
CAM School’s Superintendent Paul Croghan says next school year’s calendar is similar to the current one. He says the first day of school is August 23, and the last day of school is May 25. Croghan says they were waiting on the legislature’s decision on virtual snow days before they move forward with that.
Meanwhile, Senate House File 467 passed out the Senate on March 26. The bill would’ve allowed schools to use five virtual snow days starting next school year. However, the Senate bill failed to make it out of the House. Once Governor Reynolds Proclamation ends, there will be no online learning.
The CAM Board of Education also approved the fiscal year 2021-2022 budget. Croghan says the tax rate is similar to last year’s budget. “Last year’s tax levy was $10.50 per $1,000.00 of valuation, this year’s tax rate is $10.5101,” said Groghan. “The District increased the cash reserve and management levies, anticipating some of the conversations around facilities, and adjust if we need be. It all depends on how the conversations go.”
