(Audubon) An improved parking lot is coming soon to the Audubon Rec Center.
A $36,910 grant from the Audubon County Community Foundation helped this project get off the ground. Recreation Foundation Board Member Kyle Kjeergard says, “We are going to expand the existing parking lot or at least get it more paved and that will get us to the east side of the current driveway coming in from the north. It’ll get us over halfway paved in our existing lot.”
The gravel in the parking lot right now has been less than ideal. “We’ve found out during spring rainy, wet periods the existing lot gets a little sloppy. We have added some rock where it’s not paved, but each area that gets paved will make it that much easier for our customers that are coming to the facility.”
Kjeergard is thankful to the Audubon County Community Foundation. This is something they’ve been wanting to get done. “The sooner the better has always been the goal. As we get more funding we’ll get this project finished off. It has certainly been a goal from the start it just hasn’t gotten done to date. We are certainly very thankful for this. The next phase of the parking lot will be 100% funded by the Audubon County Community Foundation. That’s what’s helping pave the way so to speak.”
They are hopeful to get started within the next few weeks. Precision Concrete Services will do the work.
