(Atlantic) The Atlantic girl’s golf team shot a 198 and defeated Denison-Schleswig and Kuemper, Catholic, Carroll at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club on Monday. Denison-Schleswig finished with a 218. Kuemper shot a 260.
Roni Hook medaled for Atlantic with a 48, Abby Smith of Atlantic finished as the runner-up medalist with a 48 based on criteria. (Video interview with Hook and Smith posted below). Abby Nees of Kuemper also carded a 48 and finished third overall based on the same format.
“It was interesting having a three-way tie for medalist and having to handicap back,” said Atlantic Head Coach Kathy Hobson. “Roni had a couple of holes she would like to have back, but she did score better. Additionally, Abby Smith would probably like to have a couple of shots back, and she is right where she should be at this point.”
Other Atlantic scores were Lexi Noelck, 50, Reagan Leonard, 52, Belle Berg, 54, and Abby Muller, 58.
“We had some difficult shots with the wind behind us and some errant shots, but most of the time, the girls responded with some good shots and put the ball back into play where it should be,” said Hobson. “I am pleased the scores came down from this past week. It’s coming along, and I saw the girl’s taking more time putting and reading the greens.”
