(Atlantic) It is spring planting season, which means motorists should be aware of farm equipment on the roadways.
Shelby McCreedy, Iowa State Patrol Trooper and Public Information Officer, urges motor vehicle operators to be patient.
McCreedy also reminds drivers to not drive distracted.
McCreedy also offers the following tips to motorists; give farm equipment a lot of room and expect them to make wide turns, do not pull out in front of farm equipment in an effort to get ahead of them and watch for turn signals on the farm equipment.
McCreedy said farm equipment operators also have a huge responsibility.
McCreedy also noted that farm equipment operators should be mindful of their equipment width and height and remember you do have to legally yield half of the roadway to oncoming vehicles. Farm equipment does fall under all of Iowa’s motor vehicle laws, so make sure you are following the laws.
