(Anita) The CAM facilities committee is ready to get the ball rolling again. The School Board began the process of assessing the districts’ facilities well over a year ago. The goal is to create a plan to improve districts’ facilities for educational purposes for now and in the future. The process began with three community meetings in January 2020, before COVID halted the process.
On Monday, the Facilities Committee, CAM School Board, Superintendent Paul Croghan, architects Boyd Jones and Alley Poyner, and the districts’ financial advisor met to review the district’s current facility information and financial options.
“They went through the process, where we are now, where do we want to go, and how do we get there,” said Croghan. “The entire process will be driven by the community.”
Croghan says the financial discussion dealt with revenue sources to ease the general fund’s pressure, using funds from PPEL, and SAVE, and the general obligation bond and borrowing limits.
“We want to hear from everybody, even from the people that don’t think we don’t need to do anything,” said Croghan. “We need to process this as a group and build consensus as a group.”
Croghan says a community meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on April 19th, in Massena. School patrons show up in person or via zoom. The meetings will be recorded and posted on the school districts’ website.
