(Adair Co.) The Adair County Board of Supervisors turned down a request by the Fair Board to allow alcohol at the County Fair.
Joe Herr with the Fair Board said the plan was to only have it on a nightly basis during their grandstand events. He said they would have a fenced in bar area away from the grandstands and the kids, near the old baseball/softball fields, and alcohol would not be allowed to go in or out of the fenced in area.
Herr said this would help the Fair financially.
Supervisor Steve Shelley said he is not in favor of allowing alcohol at the fair.
Supervisor Jodie Hoadley said she also feels this fair is for the kids and their families and alcohol should not be there.
The Supervisors asked Herr if they were still going to allow alcohol in the campgrounds and in the pits.
In the end, the Supervisors unanimously approved turning down the request to allow alcohol at the Adair County Fair.
