(Atlantic) Cass County Health System is working through the pandemic in solid financial shape. On February 17th, the Board of Trustees set a tax rate of $2.25 per $1,000 of taxable property valuation for the fiscal year 2022 county budget, which is lower than the current levy rate of $2.30 the $2.50 levy the previous year.

Stangl says the board of trustees considers several metrics when setting the tax rate, including the continued downward trend in healthcare reimbursement, dedication to managing operating expenses, offering competitive costs, and employee engagement and retention.

Stangl says they’ve been able to finance a major construction project using cash reserves and no outside financing. The current project includes; remodeling the clinic pharmacy and expanding the Senior Life Solutions space by utilizing the 1500 East 10th Street facility.
