(Greenfield) The Nodaway Valley boys track team is excited about the group they have this season.
Three seniors will lead the way for the Wolverines. Head coach Darrell Burmeister says, “Tony Ayase will run the 100, 200, and 400 for us. He’ll be one of the better sprinters in the area. Then our other two seniors we have out are Toby Bower who will be our 800 and miler and Ben Breheny will be our miler and two-miler and will do some 800’s.”
Burmeister outlines the junior class. “Adam Ayase is a sprinter, Jon Gebbie a sprinter in 100’s and 200’s, Nathan Russell primarily in 200 and 400, but we might move him up for an 800.”
Cross Country standout Doug Berg headlines the group of sophomores. “Doug Berg 3200 and 1600, Blake Lund is our hurdler, Avery Phillippi will do some field events and run all the way up to 400’s. Will Sturdy is a new kid out for us this year that’s working hard.”
Freshmen Tyler Cooper, Dax Kintigh, and Tristan Randall round out the roster. “It’s kind of a smaller lineup for us this year, but I think most of those guys will be able to score each night and we can put some strong relays together.
Nodaway Valley begins the season Friday, April 2nd at Winterset. “We need to get some times on the board to see where we are at and go from there. We are looking forward to it.”
