(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board approved a computer upgrade for first through 12th-grade students. The district will purchase 1,425 ACER Chromebooks from CDWG for $307 per device for a total of $437,475.00.
The purchase of these devices meets the technology plan scheduled to replace the high school 1:1 upcoming school year. The new computers are all of the same make and model making it much easier for the technology department to reduce interruptions to learning. The School Board also approved 175 Apple IPADS from Apple Inc. for pre-school and kindergarten students in the amount of $51,475.00.
In other action:
*The school board approved a 3% increase in central office wages, technology, social workers, and directors. The amount is comparable to the increase provided to both unions.
*The board approved a 3% salary increase for all principals, maintains the current salary, and moves the $1,000 travel stipend to the School Business Manager Sarah Sheeder for the 2021-2022 school year.
*The School Board followed the superintendent’s recommendation: Hourly non-union, 12-month employees hired after July 1, 2021, will receive paid vacation days according to the following schedule:
*Year one through ten, the employee receives ten days of paid vacation. Eleven through 15 (15) days of paid vacation and years 16 and beyond, the employee receives 20-days paid vacation.
*The School Board approved Superintendent Barber’s recommendation to keep the monthly premium for medical insurance the same and utilize the positive balance in the partially funded account to pay for the FY22 premium increase.
The School Board is scheduled to hold a public hearing for the certified budget on March 31 at 5:00 p.m. at the High School Media Center.
