(Audubon) Audubon has a boys track roster of 13 individuals.
It’s a small group compared to what they’ve had in recent years. Coach Monte Riebhoff says they’ve mainly been working on conditioning through the first couple of weeks of practice. Gavin Smith could be poised for a big year. “Gavin Smith is one of the leading candidates to score a lot of points for us. He’ll be in some hurdle races, a couple relays, we’ll move him around quite a bit.”
The team only has one senior and that’s Joel Klocke who will be shuttle hurdler and compete in other relays. Seven juniors make up the bulk of the squad. “We have Jackson Deist. Brandon Jensen will help in some hurdle races too, Braden Wessel, Rylan Hansen. I’ve got two new guys, brothers that moved in with Matt and Manny Beisswenger. They’ll help us quite a bit in relays.”
Coach Riebhoff is excited about the underclassmen as well. He mentioned Manny Beisswenger and another sophomore is Collin Bauer that could find his way on to the always strong shuttle hurdle relay. Three freshmen could contribute. “We have three freshmen-Zeke Konkler, Brody Beane, and Logan Schmidt. They are really hard workers. I like there approach. Zeke has already told me he’d run anything from 100 to a mile. He’s a hard working kid. His dad is the girls coach, so I know he’s going to take it serious when he’s working.”
Audubon opens the season at home on Tuesday, March 30th.
