(Atlantic) The Atlantic Public Library Board is working on financing new computers, computer desks, related equipment, and financing for new flooring and paint for the upper level.
Recently, the local USDA Office contacted Atlantic Library Director Michelle Andersen, encouraging her to apply for the community facilities grant, covering 35% of the total project cost with five years to expend the funds.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says under the FY 2021 budget, and revised estimate has budgeted $10,000.00 for the computers and printers updates. He says this combined with the Community Foundation Grant financing, and either the Rural Development grant or endowment proceeds will have surplus funds of $5,260.00.
The total cost of the new floor and paint is around $61,370.00. Lund says the Library Board is prepared to pledge three years of endowment proceeds and combine this with the USDA Rural Development grant to produce $44,580. This leaves $16,790 in funding needed for the project.
Lund says he is not prepared to allocate funds to finance this gap. However, the Library Gift Fund is expected to have a balance of $51,501.00 that would be available if additional resources don’t come through.
