(Audubon) An Assistant to the Engineer has been hired in Audubon County.
George Parris began his duties as a county employee this week. Here’s Engineer Mitch Rydl, “We got lucky and we got George Parris who used to work for JEO Consulting Group. He has over 30 years experience in engineering. Basically what he’ll be doing is a lot of our design work in house for us.”
This will save the county on consulting fees. “We just didn’t have the equipment, tools, and manpower to do that before. With hiring George we’ll be able to do that all in house. We will have to purchase some survey equipment. Talking with the board and showing them in the last few years we’ve spent a lot of money on consulting, but hiring George with his salary and benefits will save that money on consulting and be able to do that in house.”
Rydl says they’ve been working for several years to find someone to help reduce the design costs.
