(Clarinda) The Clarinda City Council approved a contract for a street asphalt project at their meeting Wednesday evening.
According to the meeting minutes, Manager McClarnon reported this project is in partnership with the City of Red Oak to gain better cost quotes for the street projects for both cities. McClarnon said that the bids came in much lower than estimated and with the Clarinda City Council and City of Red Oak approval; the project can go forward with the low bid from Oldcastle Materials Midwest Co. dba Omni Engineering at $869,393 for the City of Clarinda portion of the project.
McClarnon also told the council that with the lower bid, the city will be able to repair an additional seven blocks of city streets.
