(Atlantic) The Atlantic Speech team earned high marks at the State Speech contest on Saturday in Atlantic.
Five groups advanced to the state competition after earning number #1 ratings at the district competition on January 22. Four of the groups earned a #1 rating at the State Competition last Saturday.
Earning number #1 ratings:
*The ensemble acting team of Troy Roach and Genevieve Martinez for People, Places, and Things.
*Group Improv- Nick Bennett, Kelsey Pross, and Charli Goff.
*Musical Theater titled the Little House of Horrors. The team members are Katy Rothfusz, Nolan Perez, Colten Tasto, Charlotte Saluk, Kylie Pulido, Keira Olson, and Alex Garcia.
*Readers Theater, How to Kiss a Girl. The team members are Troy Roach, Genevieve Martinez, Camryn Church, Colten Tasto, Olivia Engler, Nolan Perez, Kylie Pulido, Rio Johnson, Katy Rothfusz, Henry McCalla, Bellah Petersen
All entries which received an overall division 1 rating stand a chance to be nominated for All-State honors. Normally, a festival would be held to honor those chosen with another performance and awarding of medals. This year, the IHSSA hopes to gather some sort in the summer. Nominations are said to post to the IHSSA website on Wednesday, Feb 17th.
