(Atlantic) This year’s Super Bowl may look a little different from previous years, with most fans viewing the football game from home. However, fans may still be out on the roads, leaving small gatherings to head home after a long evening.
According to Iowa State Patrol Trooper and Public Information Officer Shelby McCreedy, the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau has established Sunday as Super Bowl CARE Operation, which stands for (Crash Awareness, Reduction, and Enforcement).
Trooper McCreedy says additional personnel from state, county, and local law enforcement agencies will be patrolling the roadways on Sunday, looking for behaviors on the roadways that lead to serious injury or fatal crashes.
To help keep Americans safe on the streets, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is teaming up with Local Organizations to remind football enthusiasts that Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk. If your night involves alcohol outside your home, plan for a sober ride home.
