Robert Godfrey Jones, the son of Clyde Donald and Ruth Anna (Roberts) Jones, was born June 27, 1931, in Grant, IA. He died January 28, 2021, at the Allen Place in Atlantic, IA, at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 1 day.
Robert was baptized in Maryville, MO. He attended school in Grant and then graduated from Griswold High School. After graduation, he worked in Omaha assembling engines for a short time. On October 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to Margery Ruth Fletcher at the First Christian Church in Cumberland, IA. They lived near Grant until 1975, when they moved to Red Oak. Robert worked at Union Carbide where he retired. In 1995 he and Margery moved to Elliott where Margery died July 25, 2001. Robert married Elnora Nebola in 2014. They lived north of Griswold until several years ago, when they moved to the Allen Place in Atlantic, IA. Elnora died on July 20, 2020. Robert remained at the Allen Place until his time of death.
Robert was a member of the AMA, the NRA, and the Harley Owners Group (HOG). He also had his Amateur Radio License.
Robert is preceded in death by his daughter Ruth Dickerson; his parents; his brothers-in-law, Junior Ramsey and Jim Jensen; and his paternal grandparents Ollie and Nort Jones.
He is survived by his children, Danny Jones and wife Mary of Cumberland City, TN, and Merry Potter and husband Ken of Elliott, IA; four grandchildren: Dawn, Amber, Adam, and Renee; numerous grandchildren; his brothers, Warren Jones and wife Marlene, and Jerry Jones and wife Donna; his sisters, Eleanor Ramsey, and Janice Jensen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Interment will be at a later date. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family.
