(Atlantic) After a lengthy discussion this morning, the Cass County Board of Supervisors rescinded their January 4th motion approving the holiday schedule for 2021 and approved a new holiday schedule for next Fiscal Year.
On January 4th, the Board approved a holiday schedule that did not include Presidents Day or the day after Thanksgiving. In addition, the Board had granted two additional personal days for County employees. Supervisor Steve Green said there were some concerns after having discussion with several Department heads.

There were no issues from the Department heads with taking away President’s Day.
Supervisor Mark O’Brien said Iowa is one of the few states that even has the day after Thanksgiving as a holiday.
In the end, the Supervisors approved setting the holiday schedule for next fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022 with the following as holidays: 4th of July, Veterans Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Memorial Day.
