Weekly Report: COVID-19 Case Data in Mills County
The Governor’s announcement late last week was a dramatic change in the vaccine distribution plan. Phase 1B now also consists of residents who are 65+. This group alone consists of 500,000 Iowans. Please be patient as we adjust to accommodate this larger group. The State is only receiving 19,500 doses per week. Others in the Phase 1B are tiered accordingly:
Tier 1: First Responders, PK-12 school staff, early childhood education and childcare workers. Tier 2: Food, agriculture, distribution and manufacturing workers who work in or live in congregate settings that do not allow for social distancing. Individuals with disabilities living in home settings and their direct care staff.
Tier 3: Staff and individuals living in congregate settings. Government officials engaged in business at the Iowa Capitol during legislative session.
Tier 4: Inspectors responsible for hospital, long-term care, and child safety.
Tier 5: Correctional facility staff and individuals incarcerated
Mills County Public Health (MCPH) continues to administer the second required dose to the 1A Healthcare population. MCPH will begin Phase 1B vaccinations on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 on a limited basis due to the shortage of available vaccines at this time. If you are in the 1B priority group, you can call 712-274-3643 to be added to the waitlist. Vaccine calls may take a few days to respond to, as we prepare our county to complete vaccinations as quickly as possible, based on available supply from the State of Iowa.
